The
Legends at Avalon, already steeped in Medieval Arthurian
tradition, thanks to its very name, offers more than an
additional 38 opportunities for upscale housing.
It is also a unique chance
for homeowners to “have it their way.”
Builders Steve and Patricia
Windsor, owners of Windsor Construction Co. Inc., have
developed base plans for The Legends, all of which can
be customized, using Computer Aided Design software.
“We have several unique
home plans that can be customized to meet individual
needs,” Windsor says.
Handicap-accessible plans
are also available.
The
Windsors, who have been building homes for more than 32
years, designed the plans. 17 homes have been completed
and 31 lots remain of the original 48.

is serving as The Legends’ model home and office space
for the Windsors and their daughter, Heather
Windsor-Towne, who, along with Quint Bourgeois, lists
The Legends. (Windsor-Towne is with the West Town office
of Coldwell Banker Wallace & Wallace. Bourgeois is with
Realty Executives Associates.)
The model home, richly
appointed with recessed shelving, built-in bookcases,
walk-in showers, screened-in porches, cherry custom
cabinetry, a paver stone rear patio and many other
custom elements, reflects the many choices available.
Decorated by Patricia Windsor, her daughter and Margie
Lyons of Design Source, the model, which is not for
sale, is tastefully appointed. It was featured in the
Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville’s recent
Parade of Homes. It garnered the gold award at the
Parade banquet as the best overall candidate in its
price range.
The Legends, on Avalon’s
prestigious golf course, offers picturesque views of
both the course and nearby rolling hills and mountains.

“The views are always green,” says Patricia Windsor.
The homes are built
entirely maintenance-free – from the brick and Pella
window exterior to lawns that a homeowner’s fee
maintains. Residents will pay $100 monthly for both The
Legends and Avalon’s homeowner’s fees, which also cover
the lights, streets, pool, pool house, tennis courts,
upkeep of the main entrance and membership in Avalon’s
country club. A separate fee covers golf course
membership.
Windsor has built
previously in Avalon in the development’s Villas,
constructing 46 homes as well as custom homes before
beginning work on The Legends. For years, the Windsors
have been noted for their custom homes.
“We have had a lot of
repeat business down through the years, 70 percent of
which has been customized homes,” he says.
Windsor is also building in
Bayou Bend across from Montgomery Cove. Boat docks, a
pool house, a boat launch and a common area along the
lake are among the amenities in this development, which
offers a boat slip and a house for the cost of what many
people are paying for the lake lots alone, Patricia
Windsor says. Prices in Bayou Bend start at $333,900.
